Karen bent over to place two metal bowls in the animal feeder, when she smelled Mickey coming up behind her in the kitchen.  She made a mental note to visit her gyno to get a penicillin shot.  Karen was glad that the only office she had to go to that morning was on the other side of her home, and all she really needed to do was check her investments after yesterday’s market close.  I am such a liar.

“You gotta nice place here doll.  Whatta ya do for a livin.”  Mickey squinted, half blinded by the gleaming, sunlight peering through the kitchen window, but also partially blinded by the thick shocks of dark hair, that he called eyebrows.  The constant ringing of Karen’s cell phone was starting to irritate him.

“I teach daycare,” Karen lied.  She hated all kids other than her nieces and nephews.  She eyed Mickey in the sunlight and noted that in a rough, Mafia sort of way, he really was kinda cute — she liked animals, but this one was in desperate need of a total body wax.

“That must be some daycare calling you so early in the morning.  Oh well, can I get a little kissee kissee before I go….and when do you want me back?”  Mickey had teeth, but somehow when he grinned, you could only see the bottom ones.

Despite this fact, Karen knew she had a demon. Maybe it was another entity, maybe it was just her…
